This page presents some tips for best viewing of images on this website. This website is best viewed at 1024 x 768 or higher monitor resolution with 32 bit colour. Lower monitor resolution will require scrolling to view the full page.

All images on this site have been prepared on a calibrated monitor and this is recommended for maximum colour accuracy. Many viewers will not have access to a calibrated monitor. In this case I suggest you adjust the monitor so that all of the patches in the grayscale step below are clearly visible and all the steps appear neutral gray.

Some monitors may have difficulty with darkest patches. To adjust your monitor Increase the contrast and brightness to 100%. Then reduce the brightness to the point you can just distinguish the darkest patches. If necessary reduce contrast so that images don't lose highlight detail. Follow the link to the image below. Reduce the contrast so that image just holds detail in the white areas of the bird:

This will allow you to see the full range of colours and tones in my images. It will also be of benefit when viewing any other website displaying photographic images.

Image size has been adjusted as a compromise between image quality and download time. Landscapes with a wealth of fine detail will suffer the most as these images are the most difficult to compress for web display.
